Melanin MeetUps Meditation

Our experience is deeply challenging and rewarding. It compels us to look deep within ourselves and move beyond what we are told, to discover who we truly are. 

The choice to take the journey of truth and self-discovery is an arduous and rewarding path. When we lay claim to who we are, we realize we have always had the choice to walk away from environments that no longer suit our needs and instead — choose environments that uplift us.

Truth gives us choice. As an example, we may choose to acknowledge the pain of anti-blackness and choose to acknowledge our true worth. We may stick our chest out a little more, hold our chin up, laugh a little louder, and let our hair down shamelessly knowing that we never had anything to be ashamed of.

Although we may have only been able to give what we had at the time to face the world — with resources, community, and Melanin MeetUps; we make better choices for ourselves which leads to positive changes internally and externally.

When we acknowledge our truth, we choose liberation. This has the power to shift the trajectory of our own life and community.

This week, I will take care of myself, my truth, and my community.
