Our Weekly Meditation for March 11

March 11
Acceptance
“To not rely on our instinct based on the experience of being Black, is insanity at best.”
At Melanin MeetUps, our 10-point plan helps us accept our Blackness and our goal towards being spiritually fit. Step one of our plan is that we accept our experience. We accept the good and the bad that comes with the experience of being Black American. Through acceptance, we accept that we are powerless over external forces, such as views about us. We have choice to respond accordingly.
Through powerlessness, we connect with our true design of power. We are able to see what feelings block expansion and self-actualization from within. For many, some may find feelings of shame as it relates to being Black due to global anti-blackness and its devastating effects both emotionally, spiritually and physically. We accept people where they’re at on their journey with this.
Through acceptance, we do not operate in denial as to what is at stake at all times and trust our instincts. To not rely on our instinct based on the experience of being Black, is insanity at best. In that same sphere, we are not blind to the filters of survival energy or personal and generational trauma that can lead to negative self-fulfilling prophecies. This can increase the chances of us feeling less safe – or limit the internal compass that could lead us to safety.
Through instinct, we find safety in numbers which leads us to the feeling of safety through the acceptance of ourselves. While we are not a monolith, we know liberation comes through giving up control over the world around us in order to find the power to drive solutions that will lead us to safety, success and the world we wish to create. Our goal is to be spiritually fit to create safety and sharpen our intuition to see it.
This week I will accept the beautiful burden of what it means to be Black.
